THE organiser of Horsham’s first zombie shuffle is expecting more than 70 people to participate in Thursday's event.
Robyn McLean said the Facebook event Horsham Zombie Shuffle had been popular.
“People are excited,” she said.
The undead will meet at the soundshell at Sawyer Park at 6pm and start shuffling along Firebrace Street to May Park from 6.30pm.
Ms McLean said a barbecue dinner would await them there.
“I’ve also got about 55 prizes to give away,” she said.
Awards categories include best dressed.
Ms McLean thanked the Horsham businesses that had supported her event by donating prizes.
She said Horsham’s Exchange Hotel would also join in the spooktastic fun that night with a Halloween party from 7pm.
But Ms McLean said Halloween had simply been an excuse to host a zombie shuffle.
“It’s not really a Halloween thing – we want everyone dressing up as zombies, not witches and things like that,” she said.
“It’s just for fun, and it saves kids knocking on doors, trick or treating.”
The event attracted some criticism from Wimmera residents who did not believe Halloween should be recognised in the region.
