WIMMERA people came out in force to support Holy Trinity Lutheran School’s Christmas Festival in Horsham at the weekend.
The annual event ran from Friday to Sunday at the school.
School committee member Maureen Schache said attendance was up 30 per cent on last year’s event.
She said the festival made almost double as much money as last year.
The money will go towards the new year seven area for next year, plus new equipment.
Mrs Schache said there were 95 entries in the Christmas tree and craft categories.
“That’s up almost double from last year – it’s been great,’’ she said.
Imogen Saunders won the best children’s Christmas tree, while Donna O’Connor won the title in the adults section.
The Materne children scored the best craft award and Helen Jordan won the adults section for her nativity scene.
Mrs Schache said the whole event went well.
“There was a great vibe about it,’’ she said.
She said a gala party on Friday night officially launched the festival.
“The party went really, really well,’’ she said.
“You could see the trees and everyone walking around having something to eat and drink, all dressed up, gave it another dimension.’’
Mrs Schache thanked everyone who supported the event.
She encouraged people to start thinking about their Christmas trees for next year’s event.
