Following a three-day trial in Horsham Magistrate’s Court, Magistrate Peter Mithen found Fishers IGA guilty of six counts of having breached the code.
Yarriambiack Shire Council prosecutors told the court the supermarket had sold out-of-date products between November 2012 and January 2013.
In addition to the fine, Mr Mithen ordered the supermarket to pay the council $40,000 in costs.
The supermarket has until January to appeal against the ruling.
Fishers IGA was fined without conviction.
