The Bordertown man, 25, was clocked speeding at 194 kilometres an hour in a 100kmh zone on New Year's Eve.
Police stopped a 2010 Holden sports ute on the Western Highway at Serviceton, about 5.20pm.
The driver has had his car impounded for a month.
However, police said the man's licence was not disqualified because he had a South Australian licence.
He will be summonsed to appear before Nhill Magistrate's Court.
Horsham Highway Patrol Senior Constable Shane Dignan said it was the highest speed the unit had encountered in 2013.
“Any time of the year, but particularly this time of the year, when there is more traffic on the road, people need to observe the speed limits," he said.
