Dimboola driver loses control on Western Freeway

A DIMBOOLA man was lucky to escape uninjured after he lost control of his car and did a double spin on the Western Freeway near Pykes Creek Reservoir on Wednesday.

Moorabool Highway Patrol Leading Senior Constable Brett Ellens said the man, 46, was driving towards Ballarat when he lost control, ascending from the reservoir near Ballan.

He said the man's late model Holden Commodore mounted the embankment and did several revolutions before coming to rest on the roadside.

Traffic on the Western Freeway was narrowed to one lane for more than an hour.

Police have called for caution in wet conditions.

In other road-related news, police caught what could be the Wimmera's highest speedster for 2013 on New Year's Eve, and intercepted an erratic driver near Horsham on New Year's Day.
