Rigby, 22, qualified for the event with her horse Rail Lifter, previously trained by Simon Gebert in his racing days, at the Warracknabeal Show on October 10 last year.
The Off The Track class is an event that is exclusive to retired thoroughbred racehorses.
Rigby, who has been riding for about 10 years, said it was nice to see her hard work pay off on the day in a field of more than 35 competitors.
“It takes a lot of work to train them up,” she said.
“I’m very happy, he was brilliant and up against some top showhorses.”
Rigby also said she and Rail Lifter qualified for the Rising Star award – reaching the elimination round – while finishing a close fourth in the Victorian Agricultural Show Equine Excellence award.
The Wimmera Base Hospital nurse said she balanced her riding with her work and that she was set to compete in a number of events this year, including the Barastoc Horse of the Year show next month.
