The cup was scheduled as the feature race at today's Stawell Racing Club meeting but the entire meeting was abandoned yesterday afternoon.
With temperatures forecast to hit 43 degrees, Racing Victoria decided to cancel the meet in the interests of animal and jockey welfare.
Racing Victoria acting chief executive officer Greg Carpenter said the call to abandon the races was made after consulting with the Bureau of Meteorology.
Stawell Racing Club operations manager Penny Penfold said the Grampians Halls Gap Cup would now be featured at the club's next meeting on February 11.
She said while the club was disappointed to abandon the meeting, it accepted Racing Victoria's decision.
"It's not a decision made directly by the club, although it was made in consultation with the club," she said.
"We're in full support of the decision as it is in the best interests of everyone involved.
"It's unfortunate that we were running the Halls Gap Cup which now has to be moved to our February meeting and this meeting will not be rescheduled."
