Xavier Chesterfield of Horsham is one of many students looking forward to receiving his offer.
Xavier, last year's dux at St Brigid's College, received an ATAR score of 94.5.
He is now awaiting entry into a Bachelor of Science degree at Melbourne University.
His score clears the course's entry requirements. He said he was not really nervous about receiving an offer but anxious whether he would gain residency at St Mary's College.
"That's the biggest concern, whether I get on residence or not," he said.
"After I get the offer, I have to send proof to St Mary's.
"Some of the teachers at school and one of my sister's friends who is at St Mary's recommended it."
He said he was unsure which science stream to pursue.
"I have no idea at the moment," he said. "I'll just do the course and figure it out from there I guess."
Another St Brigid's student, Alana Ticchi, has nominated arts at Melbourne University and law and global studies at ACU as her first two preferences.
After receiving an ATAR of 90.15, Alana said she was hoping the Access Melbourne entry scheme would get her into her first preference, before deferring for 12 months to take up a volunteer teaching role in Darwin.
Round two offers are available on February 6 for all courses, except graduate-entry teaching courses, which become available on January 22.
