Originally from country New South Wales, McIntyre found a home in Horsham after previously serving as a pro at the Emerald Golf and Country Resort in the Dandenong Ranges.
McIntyre said a desire to move away from the city sparked his move to Horsham, but the people of the town kept him here.
"I love it here I've made a lot of friendships," he said.
"Over the years I've had a chance to work with a lot of junior golfers and see them progress, and see the club itself and the area progress."
McIntyre said he initially planned to stay at the course for 25 years as a professional but was giving it up due to family reasons.
He said some of his best memories of his time in Horsham included coaching Marcus Both now a professional golfer on the Asian Tour and seeing two new clubhouses built.
The Black Saturday bushfires of 2009 destroyed the clubhouse and pro shop, and McIntyre said he was sad to be leaving just as the rebuilt clubhouse was complete.
McIntyre said he would maintain a close connection with the club and with Richard Alsop, the club's other professional.
Alsop said he wanted keep growing the club.
" I just want to continue to expand the junior program," he said.
McIntyre will officially finish at the end of February.
