Horsham won the meet ahead of Stawell, Donald, St Arnaud, Warracknabeal, Ararat and Casterton.
District 12 publicity officer Jenny Ough said it was a great day – even with the blazing temperature.
“There were a huge number of
swimmers and considering the heat, the pool was a pretty good spot to be,” she said.
“It was perfect water temperature for racing. They were really warmed up and it was a nice change from some of our colder meets.
“The heat and conditions were managed really well by Donald Swimming Club.”
Because of the high temperatures, there were two 10-minute breaks during the meet.
“Everyone present was able to access the pool and cool off,” Ough said.
“This was greatly appreciated by all swimmers and spectators.”
She said it was the largest swimming meet of the season.
“The individual medleys are a favourite event for the swimmers at Donald, and had many entries,” she said.
“The 10 to 11-year-old girls were one of the largest groups with 27 swimmers competing in this section.”
Team points for the day were: Horsham 449, Stawell 345, Donald 344.5, St Arnaud 211, Warracknabeal 198, Ararat 136.5 and Casterton 34.
The Ross Shields Memorial Perpetual Standardised Aggregate Trophy was awarded to Donald Swimming Club with Stawell Swimming Club finishing runner-up.
Ararat Swimming Club will host the next swim meet in the series at Stawell Leisure Centre on Saturday.
