Tennis players keen to resume

Pennant

WITH the weather due to cool off, players will be pleased to get back into tennis.

Central Park and Drung South face off in a clash that could well determine second place and the double chance in the finals.

Senior tennis teams for February 15

Drung South is in second place on percentage, and a win will go a long way to ensuing it stays there.

The Park side will be out to change the result of its last meeting and claim the double chance.

Horsham Lawn Massey hosts Kalkee and needs a win to keep its slim finals chances alive.

Kalkee should be too strong to let Lawn's home court advantage stop them in its quest for back-to-back titles.

Lawn O'Connor plays top side St Michael's on its home courts, but not even that should stop the consistent Saints from another victory.

Draw: Central Park v Drung South, Horsham Lawn Massey v Kalkee, Horsham Lawn O'Connor v St Michael's.

'Teena' Tips: Central Park, Kalkee, St Michael's.

Total: 23/36

A Special

The derby tally between the two Central Park sides stands at one each, so bragging rights this match are on the line.

A win to Blue will also make its place in the four safe, so it will have extra incentive for victory.

St Michael's plays Horsham Lawn and will struggle to record its second win.

Lawn is safe in second place, but would not want to drop this one in the lead up to the finals.

With a full side, Lawn will be too strong for the Saints.

Drung South plays Brimpaen, which has pushed Drung in previous encounters.

But without its top man, Brimpaen might struggle to stay with the Drung side.

Draw: Central Park Blue v Central Park Red, St Michael's v Horsham Lawn, Drung South v Brimpaen.

Tips: Central Park Blue, Horsham Lawn, Drung South.

Total: 22/36

A Grade

Natimuk takes on top side Central Park in a match that will be a lot tighter than the teams' positions would indicate.

Natimuk with a full side will be hard to beat, and a win will see it back in the four Saturday night.

The Parkers need a win to finish in top spot, so this will give them extra incentive to beat Natimuk in what could be the match of the round.

Kalkee and Drung South are playing for second place on the ladder and are only separated by percentage.

The loser could drop from the top four, which means this will also be a good, close match.

Haven plays host to Noradjuha in a match that Haven should win but it cannot take Noradjuha too lightly.

A win to Haven might see it back in the four tomorrow night.

Quantong plays Horsham Lawn needing a win to keep its spot in the four.

Lawn has struggled all year and should not cause an upset.

Draw: Natimuk v Central Park, Kalkee v Drung South, Haven v Noradjuha, Quantong v Horsham Lawn.

Tips: Natimuk, Drung South, Haven, Quantong.

Total: 24/48.

B Special

With Homers one win above Natimuk, but with the same percentage, this match becomes important to both sides with the winner taking second spot.

They have one win each after their previous meetings this season, so the result could go either way.

Brimpaen comes up against the top side in Laharum and must win to keep its chances of finals action alive.

Laharum has won the previous two encounters, and on form should win this one.

Haven plays St Michael's, which has struggled all year.

A win by Haven would see it secure fourth spot, if other results go its way. Haven has won the previous two encounters and should have another win tomorrow.

Draw: Homers v Natimuk, Brimpaen v Laharum, Haven v St Michael's.

Tips: Natimuk, Laharum, Haven.

Total: 23/36

B Grade

The top four has effectively been finalised with the past two Saturdays being cancelled due to the heat.

The bottom five sides will now play for positions to try and avoid the wooden spoon.

Haven Green has a minor break in fifth place and plays Quantong, which is ninth on percentage. Quantong will be out to improve its position, while Haven will want to keep fifth spot.

Haven Black will not show Dadswells Bridge any sympathy as it goes after second spot.

Dadswells will be out to cause an upset, but should find Haven too strong.

The derby between the two Laharum sides will see Red out to maintain its unbeaten record for this season.

The Navy side will want to cause a big upset, but Red should be too strong.

Natimuk plays the Drung South-Horsham Lutheran side at home and will have a huge task to win.

Drung South-Horsham Lutheran will want to win to remain in second place. This will give them the motivation to make sure there will not be an upset at Natimuk.

Horsham Lawn has the bye.

Draw: Haven Green v Quantong, Dadswells Bridge v Haven Black, Laharum Navy v Laharum Red, Natimuk v Drung South Horsham Lutheran, Horsham Lawn bye.
