The upgrade was jointly funded by the State Government, Hindmarsh Shire Council and Nhill Golf Club members, and was completed in June 2013.
It will enable the course to be played on all year round.
Club president Les Newton said the day was a success and a reward for the hard work of club volunteers.
“It was really good,” he said.
“We had about 65 to 70 people which was a good outcome for us, and about 55 players I think. Hundreds of hours of volunteer time went into it.”
Mr Delahunty, who joined club and community members by teeing off on the first hole, said the upgrade would allow more golf to be played on the course.
“Golf provides a great opportunity for people of all ages in regional communities to keep active, however weather conditions have made courses like Nhill’s unplayable at times,” he said.
