RECORD numbers turned out for the annual Pink Lady Day fundraiser at Horsham Golf Club on Monday.
Event organiser Julie Obst said 113 women – 13 more than last year – participated in the event, which raises money for breast cancer research.
“It was just fantastic, it exceeded expectations,” she said.
“Last year we raised about $1500 for breast cancer research, and after a rough tally I think we’ve raised about $1800 this year.”
Mrs Obst said there were some surprise winners in their four-person ambrose competition.
“Probably the highlight of the day was the teams that won the front and back nine were unexpected results,” she said.
Trudy Parker, Bernie Delahunty, Helen Fisher and Esma Wood won the front nine, while Phyl Loeliger, Rhonda Gebert, Pat Williams, Jackie Fechner and June Gross combined to win the back nine.
Mrs Obst said it was a brilliant day.
“We were in the new clubhouse and had two rooms full of women dressed in pink,” she said.
“The atmosphere was wonderful.
“Many people volunteered their time and effort, which helped make the day a success.”
She thanked the players, volunteers, various sponsors and Horsham Golf Club for helping contribute towards the successful event.
