The association’s under-12 boys A team had the most success, winning in its final tournament of the 2013-14 season at Colac.
Coached by Tony Pope, the side finished on top of the ladder ahead of a semi-final against rival Portland.
The Hornets – who lost to Portland by one point in their last meeting – came up trumps before comfortably accounting for Shepparton in their grand final, 47-29.
The under-12 girls team reached the qualifying final stage of its Colac tournament, but fell to eventual runner-up Geelong by 20 points.
In Naracoorte, Horsham’s under-12 boys B team won all three of its games against Casterton, Bordertown and Mount Gambier Two on Saturday. It lost its semi-final to Mount Gambier One, but responded to win its consolation final and finish third overall.
The under-14 boys B side and under-14 girls team competed at Maryborough, with both achieving mixed results. The girls won three of their five games, defeating Eltham, Bendigo and Castlemaine – the latter by one point after the siren.
The boys opened with a win against Maryborough B by just two points, but lost two and drew one of its past three games against Castlemaine, Wangaratta and Stawell’s A grade squads.
