Ararat police said they discovered counterfeit notes and printing equipment after stopping an allegedly stolen car on the Western Highway at Dobie about 5.30am on Wednesday.
A Blackburn man, 25, and a Kings Meadows man, 30, were subsequently arrested.
Both men were charged with theft of a motor vehicle, making counterfeit note, possessing counterfeit note, and possessing instrument for making counterfeit note.
They appeared at Horsham Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, and were remanded to re-appear before the court next month.
