Stawell head coach Elissa Chalmers said she was shocked to hear the club's name called out during a gala awards night at Melbourne's Albert Park function centre.
"A group of six of us went down for the night, which was a family ball, but we weren't expecting to win," she said.
"There were five other nominees and we were up against some very good clubs."
Chalmers said the award recognised the hard work of gymnasts, coaches, judges, volunteers and committee members.
She said the judges praised the Stawell club's inclusive nature.
"We offer gymnastics to everyone, from adults to young children to people with disabilities," she said.
"The judges commented on how we've grown as a club."
Chalmers said the club had about 90 students ranging in age from three to 50.
There are four qualified coaches and four assistant coaches and the club competes in events across the state.
"We did really well last year, with three girls reaching the state championships in levels five and 10," Chalmers said.
She said the club was working towards this year's competition season, which starts in July.
She said people could call her on 0417 317 431, email echalmerse@optusnet.com.au or search Stawell Gymnastics Club on Facebook for more information.
