The Country Fire Authority has lifted fire season restrictions in parts of District 18, including Buloke Shire and the northern part of Yarriambiack Shire north of the line described by Galaquil East Road and Galaquil West Road.
Yesterday was a total fire ban day in the Wimmera and Mallee.
CFA District 18 operations manager John Breaks said the decision to lift the restrictions in his district was made about a fortnight ago, when the weather was cooler and wetter.
"This is usually around the time we lift them here every year," he said.
"We will probably experience another few days where it will be warm, but we will deal with those days as they pop up."
Fire restrictions still apply in all other areas of the Wimmera, including the remainder of Yarriambiack Shire.
CFA District 17 operations manager Dale Russell said it was customary to progressively terminate fire danger seasons from north to south, from now until May.
"Next Monday, we will terminate the fire danger period in Hindmarsh Shire, north of the line described by the following: Sanders Road, Netting Fence Track, Netting Fence Road, easterly to Perkins Road, Pullut West Road, Pullut East Road and Galaquil West Road," he said.
He urged people to stay vigilant.
Mr Russell warned people might see smoke from time to time once permits became available, generally in the afternoon.
"It could well be a burn being done by a landowner," he said.
To avoid unnecessary fire brigade dispatches, Mr Russell encouraged landowners to register their burn with CFA dispatch centre by calling 1800 662 551.
Fire restrictions will continue until June 1 in Ararat and Northern Grampians shires.
CFA District 16 acting operations manager Alfred Mason said the fire season had been extended because of fire conditions in previous years.
