WIMMERA Bakers Delight stores in Horsham and Ararat will donate $1 from the sale of every six-pack of hot cross buns to support the Royal Children's Hospital.
All Bakers Delight bakeries in Victoria will participate in the 'bundraiser' day on April 5 in a bid to raise more than $40,000 towards buying a piece of medical equipment called the Haag Streit slit lamp.
The Haag Streit slit lamp with digital imaging is used by ophthalmologists for improved diagnosis and management of various eye conditions in children.
Horsham Bakers Delight sales assistant Kylie Rossbotham said the annual day of fundraising was a good way of increasing their overall contribution to the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
"Last year we raised more than $1500 for the appeal," she said.
She said the bakery staff would get into the spirit by donning fancy dress.
"We all dress up in operating theatre scrubs and we work in that all day," she said.
She encouraged the community to get behind a good cause.
Horsham Bakers Delight sales assistant Carol Chequer said the money would go to people who were truly in need.
"It all goes to a good cause and it's important because you don't know when anyone needs it do you?" she said.
Bakers Delight regional manager Victoria Elise Gillespie said she was confident the community would support the fundraiser.
She estimated 140,000 buns would be baked at Bakers Delight bakeries across the state.
