Youth Art @ Charlegrark organiser Amanda Munn encouraged young people to take part in the festival, which will run from 10am to 5pm.
“We have a huge number of very talented young people aged between 12 and 25, but they often go unrecognised because there isn’t a forum in which they are able to shine,” she said.
Ms Munn encouraged youths to exhibit paintings, sculptures, glass blowing, photography or other mediums.
Goroke P-12 College student Eve Barnes – a finalist in the 2013 Young Archibald competition – is this year’s guest artist.
Eve, 14, said the festival provided young artists and musicians with a great opportunity to express themselves.
“As one of the guest artists at the weekend, working towards my exhibition has been a great process for my art practice,” she said.
The festival will also incorporate live music.
“There will be a stage area and a sound engineer who will bring equipment,” Ms Munn said.
“The band Unlimited will perform from about 2.30pm. Buskers are also welcome to come along and rove through the crowd.”
There will also be a pop-up gallery for artists outside the 12 to 25 age bracket.
Ms Munn said registration forms were available at www.westwimmera.vic.gov.au.
She said people could call her on 5392 7700 or 0428 606 294 for more information.
