Thompson has played in the yellow and black of the Tigers since her 11th birthday and has represented the club at every level of competition.
A former A Grade stalwart, Thompson has also played B and C grades, and played her first match in the Horsham District Football Netball League’s new C Reserve division at the weekend.
With four children to look after – including three young girls who are starting netball careers of their own – Thompson said the finish line was close.
But exactly how close it was, she doesn’t know.
“I said last year would be my last season and I’m still playing,” she said.
“Now I’m thinking this will be my last season, but I don’t know.
“I pulled up alright after my game at the weekend.
“If I could pull up like that every week, I might play another 10 years.”
Thompson has won a slew of awards for the Tigers, including a club A Grade best and fairest in 2009.
Last season, she was named Pimpinio’s C Grade best and fairest and finished equal third in the league’s C Grade best and fairest count.
Thompson said she would play mostly in C Reserve from now on so Pimpinio’s emerging junior players could get a chance to compete in the higher grades.
“I told them my name should be last on the list to play and the first one off the list if there are young players who want a game,” she said.
“I’ve had my time, now it’s their turn.”
