Alexander ran a coaching clinic at St Brigid's College in Horsham in the morning, before speaking at the association's season launch function at Wesley Performing Arts Centre in the evening.
The association's event co-ordinator Gayle Leith said 10 players participated in the clinic.
"Almost every club from the association was represented, except one, and the coaches who went certainly got a lot out of it," she said.
"She showed them a typical Australian Diamonds coaching session and worked the girls hard."
Leith said the clinic really inspired coaches to get into the season.
"It gave them new ideas and the coaches will probably promote coaching clinics a bit more it has
encouraged many of them to attend more clinics like this," she said.
"Especially some of the smaller clubs they will take quite a bit back from this session and use it to improve their teams."
Alexander spoke about her coaching career and the importance of supporting the community and netball at the function.
"She was excellent," Leith said.
"She signed autographs and we had question time at the end. She and her husband were an absolute pleasure to have in the area."
Leith said this was Alexander's only appointment for the whole year.
The function also included a fashion parade by Time to Splurge.
"It was a really good night and everyone who turned up thoroughly enjoyed themselves," Leith said.
The 2014 season will kick off on Saturday.
