Scoffing down hot cross buns?
Playing Easter bunny for young children?
Enjoying your body weight in chocolate?
For some, Easter is a time for family or a time for God.
But for others, Easter puts the spotlight on their temporary home – Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital.
The annual Good Friday Appeal raises millions of dollars and gives those who are suffering the opportunity to share their stories.
St Brigid's College student Cory Panozzo spent six months at the hospital.
The 17-year-old has bravely shared his experience with the hope of raising awareness of his disease, NF-1.
It is a debilitating illness that has left its mark on not only the teenager, but his family and friends as well.
Sadly, his battle might end too soon.
But Cory is determined to give others who come after him a second chance.
He has donated thousands of dollars towards the Royal Children’s Hospital and urges others to donate as well.
The annual Good Friday Appeal has become a tradition for many in recent years.
Many families sit together in front of the television, watching the appeal live on Channel 7.
It is amazing to see the efforts of a whole state coming together to support the cause.
If you have time, join those in front of the television.
Watch the Good Friday Appeal and see the donations roll in.
Admire the many children who take a bed at the Royal Children’s Hospital as they share their fight – and smile as they share their brave smiles.
Run outside when the fire brigade and its volunteers come past, rattling their tins, and empty your pockets to the cause.
Come Monday, many of us will be suffering little more than a chocolate hangover. But for others, the fight for life continues.
Donate on Good Friday and support their battle. Support Cory’s final wish.
And have a safe and happy Easter.
