Tim Solly and Matt Sofoulis are due to arrive in Hopetoun on Easter Saturday.
Their 421-kilometre journey will end with the man who inspired it all: Tim’s uncle Darren Solly, who lost his battle with the disease in 2000.
He is buried at Hopetoun Cemetery; the pair will conclude the walk by visiting his grave.
A celebration will follow at Hopetoun Showground, from 3pm.
Darren’s mother June Solly has organised the party.
“We have two bands playing: the Dixiebeats and Chooker Williams and Mary Cummins from Ouyen,” she said.
“Tim and Matt are part of a band in Melbourne called Dirtland.
“They reckon they’re going to do a number or two, too.”
The entrance fee is a donation to the Motor Neurone Disease Association of Victoria.
The walkers had raised almost $30,000 by Wednesday.
Their target is $50,000.
Mrs Solly said people had been fantastic.
“I would like to thank everybody who has donated and I hope as many as possible come on Saturday afternoon,” she said.
She said people could also donate online at https://createyourowneventmndvic.everydayhero.com/au/melb2mallee.
