Miss Dixon, 18, has won a Macpherson Smith Rural Foundation scholarship.
She will receive $15,000 each year for three years, which will support her tertiary education.
Miss Dixon will participate in the foundation’s mentoring and leadership program.
The scholarship recognises regional and rural students who have demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to their communities.
Horsham College nominated Miss Dixon for the scholarship.
She is a former college captain and played a key role in the campaign to rebuild the school.
In 2012, she was awarded an Australian Defence Force Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Award.
She has also volunteered for organisations including Horsham Special School, Trinity Manor Nursing Home and various sporting clubs.
Miss Dixon is now studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Deakin University in Geelong.
She said the scholarship would give her an opportunity to achieve her career goals.
“It will allow me to reach the high standard that I am capable of,” she said.

Mayor David Grimble congratulated Miss Dixon.
“It is great to see young people being recognised for their achievements,” he said.
