McGee won $2000 in prizemoney after catching a 2.936-kilogram yellowbelly.
Bunninyong’s Ian King, 2.458-kilogram yellowbelly, and Yanac’s Peter Thistlethwaite, 1.465-kilogram yellowbelly rounded out the placings.
Murtoa’s Patty Newell led the way in the junior section for the second year running with a 1.51-kilogram yellowbelly, closely followed by Rhiannan Smith and Aari Marra, who caught 1.43-kilogram and 1.335-kilogram yellowbelly respectively.
Yanac angler Ian Stanford snagged the heaviest carp in the senior section, which weighed in at 3.840 kilograms, while Harrow’s Blair Penrose caught a 1.968-kilogram carp in the junior section.
Club president Ben Zanker said the event was a big success, with 430 entries – 120 more than last year.
He said more than 140 fish were caught throughout the competition.
HORSHAM Angling Club will host its Hynes Family Trophy Fishing Competition at the weekend.
Sponsored by Wimmera Bolts and Fasteners, the tournament will be at Rocklands between midnight on Friday until 1pm on Sunday.
Registrations will be at Brodies.
