HORSHAM police are investigating after a man allegedly held up a BP Petrol Station in Dimboola Road early Wednesday morning.

Police believe a man aged in his early to mid 40s approached the station's operator about 1am and produced a knife.
The man then allegedly demanded cash and cigarettes.
Sergeant John Inverno said the man menaced and verbally threatened the operator, who complied with his demands.
The man then fled on foot.
Sgt Inverno said police attended and investigations were ongoing.
He said there was a person of interest.
