HORSHAM basketball export Shaun Bruce has inked a new deal with the National Basketball League's Cairns Taipans.

Bruce was on the team's development squad in the 2012-13 season before being promoted to the senior roster on a one-year deal for last season.

His contract has been extended for another year through to the end of the 2014-15 season.

Bruce said he was excited to play in Cairns again.

"I think with our core group sticking around we have a chance to really do something in the coming years,” he said.

“Cairns was the team that gave me a chance in first place.

"I feel like a belong here and I want to stay here as long as I can.”

Bruce captained the Ballarat Miners in the SEABL for winter last year, but will remain in Queensland this year to play in the Queensland Basketball League.
