It’s an impressive effort but, while the foundation paused briefly to reflect on the milestone, it has not rested on its laurels.
Instead, it announced it has joined forces with the health care group’s board to overhaul Wimmera Base Hospital’s oncology facilities.
Foundation chairman Don Johns made both announcements on Tuesday at what he labelled the foundation’s most important function in 25 years.
He paid tribute to the Foundation500 members and the Friends of the Foundation who were integral in reaching the magical $1-million mark.
He also launched Foundation500Plus, which will be instrumental in achieving the foundation’s 2020 Vision.
Work is set to begin on a master plan for redevelopment of the hospital’s oncology unit.
While there is a long road ahead, there is also plenty of passion and enthusiasm to provide Wimmera residents with state-of-the-art oncology services.
