The Wimmera team – comprising Frank Creasey, Glenn Price and Barry Dunn – beat nine other regions to claim the prize. Creasey finished second in division one with eight wins from his nine matches.
Price was fifth in division two with five wins, while Dunn secured six wins to finish second in division three.
The association also claimed a third-place finish at the Victorian Country Regional Association Croquet Championships in Traralgon and Morwell in mid-April.
The four-person team – comprising Ken Bald, Fay Pearson, Robyn Goodwin and Pet Hester – competed against eight other teams. Bald – the ninth best player in Australia – won first place in section one.
Fay Pearson finished fifth in section two, Robyn Goodwin finished eighth in section three and Pat Hester finished second in division four.
