Stawell Acting Sergeant Bryan Anderson said there was an altercation between the pedestrian and the vehicle at the intersection of Main and Patrick streets on Thursday about 3.15pm.
Police are searching for the occupants of a silver Holden Commodore, believed to have been a male and a female.
"The pedestrian suffered minor injuries," Acting Sgt Anderson said.
"He took himself to Stawell hospital as a precautionary measure."
