Teachers Kerrie Nolan and Abby Tranter have started a weekly lunchtime running club with the help of other school staff.
Ms Nolan said the club aimed to challenge the students to work hard on their fitness.
“Each week they have been out of their comfort zone and pushed themselves, they’ve risen to every challenge,” she said.
She said the club, for students in grade three and above, was about working on pacing, distance, breathing and overall technique.
“As well as improving their fitness level and building their confidence, they are also learning about determination, perseverance, teamwork and sportsmanship while challenging themselves,” Ms Nolan said.
She said the club met every Wednesday at lunchtime to train for between 30 and 40 minutes.
The club showcased its skills at the Mother’s Day Classic run on Sunday.
