Victoria Police spokeswoman Creina O'Grady said a car travelling north on Quantong Cemetery Road collided with a car travelling east on Polkemmet Road on Monday.

Emergency services were called out to the scene just after 4.30pm.

Ms O'Grady said the driver of the east-bound vehicle, a Horsham man, 42, died at the scene.

"The other car's driver, a man in his late 60s, was taken to Horsham's Wimmera Base Hospital with minor injuries," she said.

"There were a number of people who stopped at the collision and then continued on their way."
