Both teams had three representatives on the nine-person team, which will be coached by Edenhope-Apsley pair Sarah Jude and Emma Forster.

Edenhope-Apsley has two players in the squad, while Natimuk United’s Sophie Hutchinson is the sole representative from her club.

It means there are no players from Harrow-Balmoral, Kalkee, Pimpinio, Swifts, Rupanyup or Taylors Lake in the team.

Horsham District Football Netball League netball board member Linda Kelly said there was no reason the team was made up of players from four clubs.

“A lot of players look at it as a week off during the season, so some of them don’t put their hand up for interleague, which is understandable,” she said.

“The side is made up of the players who wanted to try out.”

Another feature of the squad is youth.

More than half the team is aged under 20.

Bomber Claire Breed is the oldest representative at 24, and the average age of the side is 20.

Kelly said young players would not be a disadvantage for the team.

“I think it’s great, and it’s a sign of what’s happening in our league with junior players getting experience and excelling at senior level,” she said.

“They’ll be very competitive with youth and speed on their side, so I don’t think they’ll struggle at all.”

The team will play Heathcote at Horsham City Oval on Saturday.
