Melbourne gypsy-inspired trio 8FootFelix marched along Horsham’s Firebrace Street to the Museum of Lands Past.
Children meanwhile danced their way to the museum in the crisp air of dusk.
The museum showcased a eight-metre-long Plesiosaur along with a glow in the dark fish and a sandpit where digging altered light projections.
Festival manager Kate Finnerty said award-winning singer-songwriter Clare Bowditch also performed for crowds at Wesley Performing Arts Centre on Friday evening.
She said events would run throughout this week as part of the 10-day festival.
Artists will roam through Horsham this week to find out what makes the city tick.
They will then present three performances at the weekend called ‘I Met Horsham’.
Ms Finnerty said other Art is... events throughout the week included workshops to paint a mural to surround the controversial Dimboola Hotel and two walking tours in the Grampians.
Four rock bands will perform at the Commercial Hotel in Horsham at the weekend.
Ms Finnerty said people could visit www.artis.wimmera.com.au for more event details.
