KALKEE saw off Rupanyup at home with an 86-point win, but the Panthers left with their heads held high after a valiant effort.
Premiership stars such as Josh Mibus, Steve Schultz and Brendan McDonald led the way for the Kees, who kicked eight goals in the second quarter after a slow start.
The Kees' depth and experience was the difference between the sides, but Rupanyup coach Mick Finnigan said his team showed plenty of heart.
"I thought we were quite good in the first three quarters and held them reasonably well," he said.
David Lang and Drew Tyler led the way for the Panthers, as Gareth Lingham, Harrison Baker and Jake Lasslett each played their first games of the year for the side after returning from university.
Kalkee coach Trevor O'Brien said the margin might not have been as great as it could have, but was still happy with the win.
"Sometimes what it is is what it is, and to get through with a good win and no injuries was a good result as far as I'm concerned," he said.
