Yuuichi Iwata, 27, started his journey in Perth.
On Tuesday he walked from Nhill to Dimboola.
He is due to arrive in Horsham on Wednesday.
"My knee is painful," Mr Iwata said.
He injured it two weeks ago, but refuses to quit before he achieves his goal of reaching Sydney Opera House.
"It is more than 3000 kilometres from Perth to Sydney," Mr Iwata said.
He is travelling alone, pulling a cart of possessions behind him.
The hospitality of the towns he has passed through has propelled him along his way.
