FIVE YEARS AGO

FAMILY cat Fluffy Rose has been hailed a hero for saving six people from a burning house at Noradjuha early on June 11, 2009.

The fire destroyed a timber weatherboard home rented by Peta Whitehead in Horsham-Noradjuha Road around 4.30am.

Ms Whitehead, her four children and her grandson were surrounded by thick black smoke when four- month- old kitten Fluffy Rose jumped on the head of one of the children to wake them.

FOREVER THANKFUL: Peta Whitehead cradles family hero Fluffy Rose. The kitten woke family members in time for them to flee their burning Noradjuha home. Other members of the family who escaped the blaze were, front right, Ashley Whitehead and, back from left, Emmily Roberts, Nicholas Whitehead and Jade Whitehead. Picture: TIM HESTER
