WEATHER

Winter's proving it's here with a max of 15 today - but unlike yesterday, there is little chance of showers. A partly cloudy day ahead.

FIVE YEARS AGO

A lack of State Government support will force Wimmera Uniting Care to use its own funds to continue a vital rural community counselling service. The organisation started the service in 2003 with a full-time rural community counsellor in Nhill and Warracknabeal.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"The Karen people can enjoy a safe and prosperous life here for the first time in their lives." - Hindmarsh Shire chief executive Tony Doyle after council received a $25,000 grant to implement a Karen Community Capacity Building Program.
