Dimboola Acting Sergeant Peter Mellington said the window of the BP service station on Lloyd Street was smashed with a paver about 2am.
"It was a dark paver with dark glazing around the edges," he said.
The offender or offenders broke into the cigarette counter, stealing tobacco worth about $1500.
"I would certainly be interested to know anyone who could help me out with where it came from," Acting Sgt Mellington said.
He urged anyone with information to contact Dimboola Police on 5389 1470, the Horsham Criminal Investigation Unit on 5382 9200 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
