A team has been scouting the Wimmera for possible locations to film the movie adaption of Rosalie Ham’s novel The Dressmaker.
Titanic actor Kate Winslet will star as Tilly Dunnage in the film, set in the fictional town of Dungatar.
Producer Sue Maslin said she and Ham had been looking at small towns around Horsham.
She said filming would start in October.
“The town Dungatar is set among the wheatfields of Victoria’s Wimmera-Mallee,’’ she said.
“We have been in search of the town for the past year.’’
The search has focused on the Wimmera.
“It’s the perfect setting for Rosalie Ham’s novel,’’ Ms Maslin said.
The film adaption tells the story of a glamorous young woman who returns, after many years in Europe, to her small hometown of Dungatar to right some wrongs from her past.
Australian actors Hemsworth, Davis and Isla Fisher will all feature in the movie.
Ms Maslin said there would be no confirmation of locations until the end of the month.
She said people could follow the story of the filming at www.dressmakermovie.com.au.
