The sun was shining as Elder Regina Hood opened the ceremony with a welcome to country address, followed by a lunch.
There will be a range of activities in the Wimmera throughout the week.
Yesterday was Elders Day with 'Women's Business', where Wimmera women enjoyed a day of pampering in Daylesford. There was also a 'Men's Business' event.
Children attended a movie day at Horsham Centre Cinemas on Monday.
Curtly McDonald said he was excited to watch movies and spend time with his friends.
Today there will be craft activities for children and Elders to create decorations for a cabaret on Saturday.
Tomorrow, Best Start Encouragement Awards will be presented to children up to eight to reward their achievements in school and sport.
On Friday there will be a song-writing workshop at Nexus in Horsham, as well as a cyberbullying workshop and a disco from 3pm.
The week will culminate with the cabaret on Saturday night.
The event will start at 6.30pm and includes a meal, entertainment and transport to and from the event at Dimboola Memorial Secondary College hall.
Organisers said RSVPs were essential and could be made by calling 5381 6333.
