The Burras fought off a determined Nhill outfit to claim a 17.13 (115) to 12.7 (79) win at Davis Park, Nhill.
Kieran Delahunty, six goals, and Clinton Midgley, five goals, capitalised up forward to guide the Burras to their seventh win for the season.
Burras coach Scott Arnold said his side was not at its best.
“We weren’t outstanding by any means, but we got what we went there for,” he said.
“We dominated the first quarter but didn’t really capitalise and Nhill had a real crack.
“They played a nine and 10-man defence a lot of the day so, with all those numbers behind the footy, it made it harder to score and we probably didn’t adapt well enough.”
John Delahunty and Justin Garth were named among the Burras’ best players, while Arnold praised the performance of improving youngster Daniel Launer.
Despite the loss, it was Nhill’s highest score since round two.
Tigers coach Shane Grover said it was an improvement on the side’s 180-point loss to Horsham Saints.
“We focused really hard on hitting back from last week,” he said.
“We played really well and the things we’ve been trying to do at training, we’re starting to see.
“It was our best team performance by a long way.”
Liam Albrecht was named the Tigers’ best, while Grover said midfielder Justin Merrett and forward Tim Seymour were invaluable.
Grover said his side would take confidence out of the match.
“That’s the standard we’ve set now and to go forward we’ve got to keep producing that standard,” he said.
