Last time they met: Round four, 2014. Edenhope-Apsley 33.14 (212) d Rupanyup 3.2 (20).
EDENHOPE-APSLEY’S home game against Rupanyup in round four was one of its greatest triumphs this season.
The Saints dismantled the Panthers in a 192-point win and are hoping for a similar performance on Saturday when they travel to Rupanyup Recreation Reserve.
Saints coach Grant Coxon said the team did not expect a similar margin, but competition for spots in the team meant players would need to be committed.
“It’s hard to pinpoint who is going to come out of the side, because we played well at the weekend,” he said.
“Players have to start ticking all the boxes with their training, and whoever is working harder will get the game.
“Our main aim is to string a few wins together before the finals.
"The boys have a fair bit of finals experience, so they should be hitting their straps at this time of year.”
Complicating selection will be Taylor Milner, who proved his fitness in the reserves at the weekend and is set for a return.
With Rupanyup not fielding an under-17 side, Coxon said Daniel Richardson, who has been in impressive form, could be in line to make his senior debut.
Panthers coach Mick Finnigan said he did not expect to make many changes to the side that lost to Laharum at the weekend.
Finnigan said the Panthers expected to significantly narrow the gap between the sides from their last meeting.
“Based on the improvement we’ve shown since the first round, I would expect it to be much closer,” he said.
“I think our top-end players have become a bit fitter and improved, and our players at the other end have gained some valuable experience.”
