WEATHER

Similar to yesterday, expect a windy day and a few showers. A top of 16 and a minimum of nine. It's good to think that only a few weeks ago nine was the maximum - spring is on its way!

FIVE YEARS AGO

Expenditure on electronic gaming machines in the Wimmera rose by almost $2 million in the 2008-09 financial year. Figures released by the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation showed poker machine revenue in the Northern Grampians Shire and Horsham and Ararat rural cities totalled $27,595,453.11, up on the previous financial year’s total of $25,839,248.82.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“A demure driver is someone who is fairly calm and cautious; a dominant driver is a risk-taker, and a driveaholic is an extreme risk-taker.'' - The Motorvation Foundation training manager Jennie Hill believes a driver’s psychology makes all the difference on the roads.
