Owner Paul Rintel told the Horsham Magistrate's Court that safety fencing would be on the site by the end of Wednesday.
He said demolition work would start on Friday and be finished within two weeks.
"I haven't taken this lightly," he said.
Magistrate Cynthia Toose warned Mr Rintel in March he would face prison time if the site was not cleared by July 30.
Despite Hindmarsh Shire Council's applications for fines and imprisonment on Wednesday, Ms Toose decided to adjourn legal proceedings until August 20.
"Hopefully the matter will be resolved satisfactorily before then, otherwise hard decisions will have to be made," she said.
She ordered Mr Rintel to pay Hindmarsh Shire Council $3187 for court costs accrued from March until Wednesday.
Mr Rintel has sold his house to pay for other costs associated with the case.
He bought the fire-ravaged freehold property for $1 in 2004.
