Tink left the country for Italy on Thursday for the World Flying Disc Federation’s annual World Ultimate Club Championships.
The Ballarat-based university student, who has just returned from a trip to Kokoda as part of her studies, will meet up with her team before the opening ceremony Saturday.
Tink’s team, Sporting Team Box Athletico United, won the women’s division of the 2014 Australian Ultimate Championships in April.
Tink, who began playing the sport last September, said she was excited about making her first appearance at the world championships.
“I can’t believe it’s come around so quickly,” she said.
“It’s my first tournament, so I’m not too sure what to expect.
“Pretty much all of my team has been before. The American teams and the Japanese teams are always good, so it will be interesting to see how we go against them.”
More than 130 teams will compete at the week-long event across five divisions.
Tink’s team is ranked 18th out of 32 women’s teams in the opening pools stage, with teams coming from 20 countries.
Tink’s team will play against second-ranked Japanese team MUD on Sunday at 8pm Australian Eastern Standard Time, before facing Colombia’s Revolution, ranked 15th, at 2am on Monday.
Its third pool game is against Norwegian side UFO Women, ranked 31st, on Tuesday at 12am.
The top three teams from each of the eight groups will then reach another pool stage, before the top four from each of those groups form a final 16 to play for the title in a knockout format.
The final will be on Friday next week at 8pm.
