Australian Taxation Office figures reveal almost $6 million of unclaimed super in accounts registered to addresses in Horsham and surrounds.
There is $3.7 million in accounts in Ararat and almost $3 million in Stawell.
Nhill has almost $900,000 lying idle, while Dimboola has $816,812.
Warracknabeal has $546,070, Murtoa has $315,000 and Minyip $279,000.
ATO assistant commissioner John Shepherd said there were billions of dollars nationally that people had lost touch of.
“There’s more than $6 billion of super sitting in accounts where funds have not been kept up to date with changes to personal details,” he said.
“It’s easy for this to happen because when people get married or move house, the last thing on their mind is updating their name and address details with a super fund.
“It is also important to make sure your super fund has your tax file number.
"This will allow us to display your super accounts online and help reunite you with your super.”
Mr Shepherd said people could check if they had any lost super accounts by creating a myGov account at www.ato.gov.au.
“After you’ve electronically lodged your tax return, it only takes a minute to use SuperSeeker and check whether you have any accounts that can be rolled into your main one,” he said.
