Eight under-12 players from the association will take part in the Jamboree, which brings together the state’s top 120 male and top 120 female under-12 players for a four-day camp.
This year’s Jamboree will be split between Warrnambool and Echuca, with the Horsham players attending the Warrnambool session.
The Jamboree is from September 28 to October 1.
The eight Horsham players selected are Lavinia Fox, Jayde Ellis, Ben Hobbs, Harley Pope, Austin McKenzie, Kate Sleep, Molly Lakin and Gemma Sounness.
Horsham Amateur Basketball Association junior representative director Tony Sleep said the players were picked after Basketball Victoria Country hosted junior skills days at several locations across the state late last month.
The players were part of a skills day in Hamilton and were picked for the Jamboree after some impressive performances.
Sleep said it was the most players the association had sent to a Jamboree since 1995.
“It shows the association is really starting to strengthen, particularly the representative program,” he said.
“The kids are enjoying the experience and they get an opportunity to have coaching from some of the best coaches in the state.”
Sleep said Jamboree selection put the eight players in good company.
“It is four days of competing with and against the best players in country Victoria,” he said.
“The likes of Aaron Bruce and some of the other successful players Horsham has had came through the same program.”
