Ballarat Relay for Life committee members and Cancer Council Victoria state advisory council, training teams and staff also attended the summit in Horsham.
Horsham Relay for Life chairman Kingsley Dalgleish said the summit was an opportunity to share ideas ahead of the March 2015 event.
He said there was also a focus on fight-back programs.
The summit highlighted preventative measures, such as reducing smoking and drinking, having a healthy diet and exercise regime and being sun smart.
Mr Dalgleish said the Horsham committee also learnt about services available through regional agencies and Cancer Council Victoria.
He said the committee would use the summit to make the 2015 Relay for Life better than ever.
“The summit was more for the committees in terms of the running of the event itself, but as a consequence the benefits will flow on to the teams and participants,’’ he said.
“The Cancer Council Victoria representatives on Saturday reiterated their delight with our Horsham and Districts Relay for Life and the wonderful support provided by the community and regional businesses.’’
Mr Dalgleish said people could register for the March event on the new-look Relay for Life website, www.relayforlife.org.au.
He said there would be a team captain’s meeting on September 10.
The committee will now prepare for the annual Paint the Town Purple event from October 6 to 10.
