Ground: Murtoa Recreation Reserve, Saturday, 2.20pm.

Last time they met: Round 8, 2014. Minyip-Murtoa 20.16 (136) d Stawell 8.5 (53).

MINYIP-MURTOA will take confidence from Saturday’s victory over Warrack Eagles into Saturday's match against Stawell.

The Burras have their sights firmly set on finals and are guaranteed to make life difficult for the Warriors, who have managed only two wins for the season.

Minyip-Murtoa coach Scott Arnold said beating the second-placed Eagles had filled his charges with self-belief at an important time of the year.

“We just want to keep improving and we’ll be working on having an even team effort,” he said.

It will be business as usual for the Burras.

“We’ll field a similar team to Saturday,” Arnold said.

“Our even spread was the key against the Eagles, so we will be concentrating on that again.

“We’re just focusing on getting the four points and then we’re in the finals.”

Arnold said midfielders John Delahunty and Adam Gerdtz would need to lead the way.

“Stawell’s got a couple of young midfielders having good years such as Tom Eckel and Jackson Dark, so we won’t be taking them lightly,” he said.

The Warriors will look for improvement against the Burras on Saturday after two big losses against the side this season.

Ruckman Shane Field will have a difficult task against Minyip-Murtoa counterpart Kieran Delahunty, who was outstanding in the Burras’ win over the Eagles.

Defender Todd Matthews played a negating role on Saints spearhead Gavin Kelm at the weekend and could take on a similar role on Saturday.

The Warriors will look to onballers Aidan Potter and Eckel to continue their good form, while Zac Marrow and David Morris will be required to stand tall in defence.

Stawell coach Brad Cassidy was unavailable for comment.
